Bananas Foster Sauce

servingsThis iconic and decadent sauce is traditional served over bananas.
Ingredients
1/4 c. (1/2 stick) butter
1 c. dark brown sugar
1/2 t. ground cinnamon
1/4 c. banana liqueur
1/4 c. dark rum
1/2 c. heavy whipping cream
Directions
- Combine the butter, sugar, and cinnamon in a flambé pan or skillet
- Cook on medium heat, stirring, until the butter is melted and sugar dissolves
- Stir in the banana liqueur
- Add the rum and allow to warm
- Carefully light the rum vapors using a stick lighter or gas burner
- If you allow the flames to subside on your own, all of the alcohol will be cooked out of the sauce
- After flames are out, remove pan from heat
- Stir in the heavy whipping cream
