During the 14 or 15 years where the Barbecue Crew actively pursued annual pilgrimages of BBQ joints, we probably toured close to 300 barbecue restaurants. And during that time we consumed a good number of banana puddings. And this year, our son asked us a simple question about eggnog:
Have you ever made a banana pudding eggnog?
Jack Sweeney – 2020
And I thought to myself: WHY have we never made a banana pudding eggnog???
So obvious. And right in front of our nose all this time!
Now, I knew that bananas could be polarizing – there are definitely banana-haters in this world. But would there be any in our voting audience? Ultimately, the fact that I like bananas (and banana pudding) outweighed the risk of banana-haters on the judging panel.
So, we set about designing a banana pudding eggnog, and while experimenting, learned that the deep richness of flavor in bananas foster was a fantastic match for eggnog.
